Explore clinical interventions for optimal thyroid health

Contributing to better health by understanding and improving thyroid function is important, and an often-misunderstood area of clinical practice.

Classic thyroid symptoms include cold hands, feeling sluggish, thin hair, thin dry skin, constipation and “I just don’t feel well”. Extreme fibromyalgia and extreme chronic fatigue may reflect more chronic thyroid conditions.

Clinicians need to treat the symptoms as well as the disease to support long term health outcomes.

___________

Thyroid conditions are extremely common

Women experience thyroid conditions ten times more frequently than men do. Long-term effects of undiagnosed or misdiagnosed conditions lead to ineffective treatments and lower quality of life.

Management of thyroid conditions is also very important. Thorough understanding of the underlying causes of thyroid dysfunction is essential, including accurate interpretation of test results and appropriate prescribing of individual protocols.
